Planning Ayia Napa Attractions: Coves, Cliffs and Chapels

Ayia Napa's sights split between the village core and the wild Cape Greco headland. In town, a walled Venetian-era monastery sits in the main square, a 20 to 30 minute walk from the harbour, while the free sculpture park occupies the eastern edge along Kryou Nerou Avenue.

Most of the coastline costs nothing to wander. The sea caves along the Cape Greco headland have no gate or opening hours, and the natural stone arch of Love Bridge needs no ticket either. Both ask for grippy shoes, water and care on uneven rock.

The Makronissos Tombs, nineteen chamber tombs cut into bedrock west of the resort, suit coastal walkers, while Agioi Anargyroi Chapels is best slotted into a village walk rather than a journey of its own. The Thalassa Museum, with its life-size Kyrenia II replica, is the one paid stop and works well with children.

Timings are modest: half an hour to an hour at the monastery, an hour in the sculpture park, under an hour at the tombs. Only the museum charges admission and Sundays close from October to May; summer visits to open ground are better early or late.

Ayia Napa attraction guides

  • Sea caves near Ayia Napa.

Ayia Napa Sea Caves: How to Get There and What to See

A stretch of wild limestone coast on the Cape Greco headland, free to wander and with no gate or opening hours. Bring grippy shoes and water: the ground between the parking area and the cliff edge is uneven, and the sea window has no signpost.

half a day · free entry · Best for rock-hopping, photography and swimmers

  • Courtyard of Ayia Napa Monastery.

Ayia Napa Monastery: Visiting the Old Town Landmark

A walled Venetian-era monastery in Ayia Napa's main square, reached on foot from the harbour in about 20 to 30 minutes. Allow 30 to 60 minutes for the cloister courtyard, the underground cave chapel and the old sycamore by the gate.

30-60 minutes · free entry · Best for quiet break from the resort

  • Sculpture at Ayia Napa Sculpture Park.

Ayia Napa Sculpture Park: Free Open-Air Gallery Guide

A free open-air sculpture collection on the eastern edge of Ayia Napa, grown through annual symposia and still expanding. Allow about an hour, and combine it with the adjoining cactus garden; summer midday heat makes the unshaded paths uncomfortable.

around an hour · free entry · Best for free outdoor strolls and sculpture

  • Rock arch at Kryou Nerou, Ayia Napa.

Love Bridge Ayia Napa: How to Visit the Rock Arch

A natural stone arch over the water at the Cape Greco end of Ayia Napa, best seen in low sun. The last stretch is rough, steep rock with no shade or barriers, so bring grip soles and water and keep clear of the edge.

30-60 minutes · no ticket is sold · Best for couples wanting a short photo stop

  • Rock-cut tomb at Makronissos, Ayia Napa.

Makronissos Tombs, Ayia Napa: Visiting the Rock-Cut Necropolis

Nineteen chamber tombs cut straight into the bedrock of the Makronissos headland, beside an older open sanctuary and a quarry. There is no museum or set route, so wear shoes with grip for the cut steps and read the entrance information first.

under an hour · Best for coastal walkers and archaeology-minded visitors

  • The Thalassa Museum building, Ayia Napa.

Thalassa Museum, Ayia Napa: What to See and What It Costs

A life-size replica of the 4th-century BC Kyrenia II trading ship is the main draw, seen from deck level and above. The basement marine-life floor suits children. Allow an hour, and note Sundays are closed from October to May.

60-90 minutes · €4.00 adults, €1.50 children · Best for families and maritime history fans

  • Ayioi Anargyroi chapel at Cape Greco.

Agioi Anargyroi Chapels, Ayia Napa: A Short Village Stop

Two small chapels counted among Ayia Napa's religious monuments, worth slotting into a walk through the village core rather than a trip of their own. No ticket price is published and walk-in access is unconfirmed, so check locally first.

2-3 hours · Best for a short stop on a village walk

Coastline stops that cost nothing

The sea caves at Cape Greco, the Love Bridge rock arch and the sculpture park all carry no entry charge. Wander the limestone coast, photograph the arch in low sun and stroll the open-air galleries along Kryou Nerou Avenue, where an adjoining cactus garden extends the walk. Budget half a day for the caves, 30 to 60 minutes for the bridge and around an hour for the sculptures, and bring water since the paths offer little shade.

Where to spend a single day

Start early at the sea caves on the Cape Greco headland, where uneven ground and rough rock make the morning coolest and safest. Walk the cloister, cave chapel and old sycamore of the monastery in the central square next, allowing 30 to 60 minutes, then finish at the Thalassa Museum for the Kyrenia II ship and the basement marine-life floor that suits children. Check the museum's Sunday closures from October to May before you build the day around it.
